G5's, 530 and GFC 500AP
My son and I use Xplane 11. We have our sim set up just like our Cessna 172. The G5's (MFD and HSI) operate almost like the real ones. We are using Air Manager software as it seems the best out there. One software issue is the HSI pointer doesn't automatically point to the next waypoint, you have to set it. The 530 could use better software to duplicate all the screens on the real unit and become fully functional. There is a company out there that does this, but it wipes out the current nav/approach data. We use Navigraph software for nav updates. Real sim gear products are fantastic replicas of the actual flight avionics. The Con's: software issues between Xplane, Air Manager sometimes cause problems. If you are not a real savvy computer person to fix the issues, have no fear because there is Dustin who works for Real sim gear. He is fantastic, a great guy that can have the problem fixed quickly. I think if Real sim gear would hire a programmer to integrate Their products with Xplane and the other software platforms, like PS3, Microsoft etc. and Garmin and make the software run the avionics equipment exactly like it does in the actual plane, it would be fantastic.
