This product is especially helpful for learning and practicing instrument flying procedures. When coupled with virtual ATC like PilotEdge or VATSIM this provides the most realistic simulation possible. This unit features it's own high quality, high resolution (1920x1080) LCD display that is used to display the Reality-XP GTN650 pop out screen.
Installation is simple, there is no assembly, 3D printing, wiring or soldering required, this product comes fully assembled. The unit can be panel mounted in your home simulator, sits on your desktop or can be used with our optional desktop stand.

Nick in support would not give up on me. I also have recently upgraded to an XForce built PC that runs XPlane well and the 650 head is INVALUABLE. The power of being able to learn the navigator and system without spending 200 per hour and up being trained in a noisy hot airplane is amazing. My previous review was part of my initial challenge, but like I said, Nick was amazing and hooked up to my machine remotely to get it squared away. Thanks Nick and RealSim Gear.

I got this to get a little more comfortable with an avionics upgrade on a club plane I fly. The detail and accuracy are simple amazing.
A great product once it is set up
As a pilot I fell in love with the Garmin GTN650 in the Warrior and the Arrow I rent. (Especially after learning to fly with a 430, with its ridiculous knobology!) So when I started building a sim I was excited to find that RSG makes a simulator version of the 650. It was easy to set up. It was NOT easy to get working, because you have to integrate it with your pop-out software. I chose TDSGTNxi because it uses the Garmin trainer software, which it absolutely true to the real thing. I got the 650 working with the TBM930 and C172 G1000 that comes with MSFS, but couldn't get it working with the Carenado PA28-181 Archer I bought off the MSFS Market Place. I exchanged a few emails with Nick from Support and then set up a remote session with him. During the session he found that someone had snuck into my house late at night and upgraded the Garmin trainer software even though the documentation from TDS explicitly says not to. He also fiddled with the command mapping and got the Direct To and Home buttons working. I'm a happy camper. Here are my takeaways: 1. The hardware is obviously 3D printed, which is exactly what you would expect in this day and age. (I imagine margins are good with that COGS.) The touchscreen setup is easy and the screen works great so far. The size is similar to the 650 in your instrument panel. Works exactly the same way, too. 2. I work in IT. I've worked with a lot of support organizations over the years. FSG's support is EXCELLENT. Use them. Nick is exceptionally friendly, knows the product inside and out but, as importantly, knows the software they have to integrate with inside and out. AND, he can quickly identify when you've done something ****** and be nice about it. :) I told him he'd saved me 60 hours of frustration. 3. The documentation needs a little more specificity, I think, in terms of what command mapping files do, maybe an "expert" section. Also, maybe an opening paragraph or two explaining the installation in general terms before starting the process. "First, we're going to do this, the purpose of which is this. Next, we're going to..."

I really love the 650 as it's exactly like what I have in my airplane. Really great for my IFR training with X-Plane. I recommend the optional stand. And it works great with the RealSimGear autopilot I had already purchased.

This GTN650 is exactly like the one in the planes I'm flying for my IFR training. This has saved me lots of time and money in my training by giving me the opportunity to learn the buttons and functions of the GTN650 outside the plane. I also purchased the stand. Customer support was great too!
